Live Brief With Hallmark Cards

The brief i was given was open, i decided to focus on new baby girl. To get inspired i decided to go to a few shows such as Harrogate Home & Gift Fair, Autumn Fair International at the NEC, Birmingham and Top Drawer London.
All were full of lovely ideas and creations! Perfect for my inspiration.
I then put together my mood board, reflecting my colour palette, target market, pattern and techniques i wanted to explore.

The Stitched Surface

Project inspired by fifties femininity, looking at lace mixed with sprigs of flowers and polka dots. Just loved this project. These are just a few pages of my sketchbook just to set the mood..... Enjoy!

Full of inspirational images buttons and bows!

I took a visit to the Betty Smither's Design collection to look at detail in 50's garments

sketches of flowers then starting to layer stitch on top of different fabrics which worked really well for me.

Started to use procion dyes then adding embroidery over the top of flower to create a textured piece. For my final piece i create a sample made from linen with flowers and hand made buttons which could be used as for a handbag.

My final sample

At the end of the project i had some good news that my work had been chosen to be exhibited at Shugborough hall & estate.
