Joules Placement

I'm back from my work placement at Joules it was a great opportunity to see for myself how the design team worked. Everybody was lovely and i had the chance to create some repeat patterns, creating freehand drawings straight into Illustrator. This really helped me with my current project at university with colour separation and to see my designs in repeat.

Joules- Market Harborough research

While at Joules i got the chance to do some market research in the town Market Harborough, a lovely town close to leicester. It was full of small craft shops and bakeries, heres a few snaps i have taken.

Placement With Joules design team

I have just confirmed i now have a placement with Joules clothing this April working alongside designers in the childrenswear department. I have always loved their fun colourful designs and cant wait to begin my placement with them having seen them at Bubble London earlier this year.

Wedgwood Fairyland Studio Interview

While working on our Wedgwood products for the Fairyland event a couple of people that work for Wedgwood came into to interview us in the studio so they could see what things we were creating as well as promoting our work and blog pages.

Taking a detour from ceramics, Katie and Maria’s (BA Surface Pattern Design) textiles are characterised by a vivid colour palette that borrows heavily from the new Wedgwood Harlequin designs, with prints inspired by vintage Queen’s Ware design; an exciting combination of Wedgwood old and new. For the craft market they will be creating a wide range of products from children’s clothing to kitchen linens."

Emma Bridgewater Work Placement

In my second year i was lucky enough to win a competition based placement with Emma Bridgewater , a ceramic company that produces handmade ceramic ware. We had to opportunity to design and create a collection of ceramic pieces that related to the Stoke-on-Trent using the same hand printed sponge technique that they use.

I based my design on tiles i found while looking around Stoke-on-Trent experimenting with different colour ways and composition.

Churchill China Work Placement Project

Last summer i spent two weeks at Churchill China in Stoke-On-Trent working with the design team on my own project. Churchill in a well known ceramic company producing hospitality/ home ware ceramic products around the country.  I decided to focus my project on younger children looking at tea party treats...
